Filthy Dukes @ Hoxton Bar and Kitchen

Wooop! I've just returned from a massively epic gig - Filthy Dukes. They were on fire!

The dark little back room at Hoxton Bar and Kitchen was rammed to the brim with hundreds of people clapping along to the dramatic beats under the numerous strobe lights. The three of them looked really intense and powerful up there and were fully into it - like they were under some kind of magical electro-rock-fuelled spell.
When they played Tupac Robot Club Rock it was unbelievable and they made sure they made sure they mixed it up a bit for their live show.

Flippin' crackin' it was. That's why I love music.

PS - My computer is RIDIC slow tonight, trying to upload these pictures of Filthy Dukes. I feel like throwing it merrily out of the window.

Birthday Party of Love

Many things happened this weekend as it was my Birthday celebrations in London Townizzle. The long and short of it was that much fun was had in the sun with my friends with lots of food and music. My favourite.

Here are a few of the happenings and the pictures to prove it:

1) We found two ducks humping at Hackney Farm - I don't recommend watching this in future.

2) A pig showed me its bum a the same farm, so I took a photo and then ate a bacon sandwhich

3) I sat in a pot with a palm at Cargo on Friday night and then danced to Electro
4) Our BBQ in the amazing park wouldn't light due to lack of matches
5) Lastly, an unidentified bug landed on my neck. Vile.

Terrible Tube Trauma

Just in case you were wondering why you found yourself in deja-vu confusion today over hearing a repeat of last weeks edition of The Get Up - I can give you an explanation.

I was all set and ready to go armed with my records (a mighty selection) and bonjela (due to the array of ulcers I currently have nestling in my mouth.) All was going swimmingly until I got to Bank Station to find the DLR shut off because of some major incident involving the fire brigade. So I went off upstairs and out onto the street to find myself in the living hell that is Bank in rush hour.

I walked for 25 minutes amongst a rush of suited people looking for the right bus asking a street sweeper, two newspaper sales people and a city worker who all had different directions for the number 15 bus. When I eventually found the bus stop it was ten to six and I didn't have a cat in hells chance of getting to xstream east in time for my show at six.

So in a very disgruntled and almost teary state I pondered home through swarms of people all wanting the same tube as me and rushing to miss the tube strike at 7pm.

Therefore you got a double dosage of last weeks show, I hope it's not too much of a let down for you as it was for me.

Seeya next week at 6, second time lucky!

Park Life and T Bar

Last Saturday was a ridiculously hot day - sun filled every corner of everyones day and London was a hot and sticky mess. I did manage however to find some refuge with my friends in the park. This wasn't any old park, it was London Fields park next to Broadway Market (not a million miles / metres away from my new boudoir in Bethnal Grizzle.)

As I walked into the park I was greeted by the jolly sight of what could only be described as a swarming mass of people enjoying BBQ's with loved ones, dancing carelessly, and generally having a whale of a time. I couldn't believe my eyes - it was like a field in the midst of a festival, I was pleased to learn that BBQ's are allowed and it's open 24 hours (lord knows what goes in in there after midnight!)

So we spent the evening eating and drinking under the sun surrounded by the merriment. Then we headed over the newly relocated T Bar, it's at Dukes Place, Aldgate (If I remember rightly - don't bank on it!) I miss the old T Bar, somehow the magic wasn't there in the new venue. But the music was still pumping, I suppose that's all that matters.

I forgot my camera - shoddy I know, I'll make up for it in my next blog. Friday is Fabric Live - stay tuned!! x x
